JOIN OUR TEA PARTY!
by Riley J. Hood
2009

The non-partisan, spontaneous Tea Parties of April 15 took on a different character. These were promoted by GOP officials and individual GOP sympathizers—such as radio talk show host Sean Hannity—on a nationwide basis. In Madison, Rep. Paul Ryan (R), who talks about, “The Republican Road to Victory”, and Reince Priebus, Republican Party of Wisconsin State Chairman, addressed a crowd of 5000+ people. These men and their radio personality mouthpieces have a long and established track record for advocating big budgets, unconstitutional budgets and “bi-partisan” cooperation with the Democrat Party. These men are part of the problem, not part of the solution. While all Tea Parties aren’t the same, things like this have been reported nationwide.

So why did these Republican officials and sympathizers get involved in the Tea Party movement? The same reason why they got involved in the gun rights, pro-life and Moral Majority movements. That reason is to gain a voting block for themselves and keep that block beholden to them. The GOP is fighting a phony war against these evils, one which they have no intention of winning, all the while using the RINO (Republicans in Name Only) wing of their party to implement the socialism they are enamored with. The NRA promotes GOP candidates and compromises on legislation. The Log Cabin Club promotes the homosexual agenda. Republicans for Choice exist to remove the pro-life plank from their party’s platform. That is why we have gun control, why we have abortion to the tune of 48,000,000 dead babies with no end in sight and why we have homosexual-rights activists parading down Main Street. This writer hopes Tea Party protestors will persevere and persuade those in authority to lighten our tax burden. If the Tea Party movement ever submits to the GOP leadership, it will be ineffectual and amount to nothing.

If you don’t believe me, maybe you will believe Ronald Reagan:

“It is important to note that we are reducing the rate of increase of taxation and spending. We are not attempting to cut either taxes or spending to levels below that which we presently have.” (February 19, 1981, the New York Times) That is the measure of Republican resolve to cut spending.

Now let’s go back to a “Tea Party” that took place in 1992. It was organized by Howard Phillips and other far-sighted men who founded the U.S. Taxpayer’s Party (USTP) in response to trampled liberties and heavy-handed taxation. One of the original outcries was “Veto the I.R.S!” Regarding the federal budget, the USTP called for not only a balanced budget, but a constitutional budget, meaning every program that doesn’t fall under the federal government’s limited and enumerated powers outlined in the Constitution, will be eliminated. All unconstitutional spending will be discontinued as well as welfare subsidies, business subsidies, social engineering, will be eliminated. In other words, we have pursued and supported the very goals and message of the Tea Party movement for the last seventeen years, even when it was unpopular to do so.

We in the Constitution Party promote the solution of limiting our federal government to its enumerated powers under the US Constitution and limiting our state government to those things which benefit all citizens, such as road maintenance and law enforcement. We know the Tea Party protests are non-partisan but we hope the Tea Party protestors will consider the Constitution Party’s candidates when the time comes to elect their representation.

Our “Tea Party” of 1992 has since changed its name to the Constitution Party, but unlike movements past, the Constitution Party has endured and has not been watered down. So Constitution Party of Wisconsin members, tell your patriotic family and friends that the CPoW “…is continuing in the tradition of freedom as the Boston Sons of Liberty of 1773.” By our track record we are the real Tea Party. By their track record, the GOP is not. Tell your fellow Americans to quit wasting their time on the Republican Party…and join OUR Tea Party, the Constitution Party!
